Work is underway on the Ultrasound Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Working in close collaboration with a wide range of staff and team members, the project comprises the redevelopment of an old x-ray records filing area to provide a new Ultrasound Department. The new unit will contain 5 Ultrasound rooms, a 3-bed Waiting Bay for inpatients, reception and administration facilities and a new primary Waiting Area.
Colour is a key feature in this scheme to help orientate the visitor to their appropriate destination. The simple application of colour softens the spaces with a strong floral image in the main waiting area at the heart of the unit. From here the theme is carried through the fabric and finishes of the clinical spaces thereby creating a holistic and co-ordinated appearance to the unit.
